Wage a war.

13 March 2009, Friday:

There are times when I absolutely abhor the rain. A good example would be today. It was pouring so heavily and you know how the rain can make travelling very inconvenient.

I was on my way to work when I had to take a longer route so as to keep myself in shelters. Despite being covered, I still got caught in the rain occasionally, and some times, the rain can't help but drench you even in shelters.

I felt cold by the time I got to the restaurant. So I immediately barged into the kitchen, greeted everyone, complained about the rain, grumbled how cold I was, and stood by the hot plate. Aunty Florence was preparing tomato sauce and she agreed I should stand there. I did so for about ten minutes before getting down on the floor.

Guess what?!
FOR MY ENTIRE FISH & CO. LIFE, I HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED AS A BAR RUNNER, UNTIL TODAY.
Should I be happy? Haha.
I have no idea, but well, I thought it was pretty all right for me. I will always avoid serving drinks, but I guess I got lucky today since I hadn't had much to serve all at once. I was also the co-runner, along with Shikin.

Oh, I just remembered something.
Charie: (to a small girl) You like colouring?
Charie: You like colouring?
Charie: Come, aunty give you a colouring book.
Jean: Why did you call yourself an aunty?
Charie: Sorry?
Jean: Why call yourself an aunty?
Charie: Don't call aunty then call what?
Jean ponders for a moment.
Jean: Yeah, you're right.
Jean: But still.. Aunty? *laughs*
This happened last night.

Shaik tricked me just now!
Jean: Shaik, cash.
Shaik processes everything, while Jean stands there waiting.
Shaik pretends to be calculating the change.
Jean: How much?
Jean: Oh! No change. *laughs*
Shaik: Exact lah.

Initially, I was supposed to have dinner with my dad and brother, but since my brother couldn't make it home on time, my dad decided not to go out for dinner. Therefore, I spent my time at the restaurant, in BOH. Right before my shift ended, Minthu taught me how to do garlic lemon butter. Then aunty Florence taught me lemon butter sauce.

Leonard was my mentor for the day. View, Minthu and Nadz taught me some stuff too. I have learned quite a bit today, and indeed it was a mind-blowing experience. Leonard encouraged me to learn and he was more than willing to teach me. I appreciate his patience because I know how difficult it is for me to grasp something. As expected, I made many blunders which I am so embarrassed of. I can never escape from the clutches of carelessness.

It was fun handling the raw calamari rings as they were bleached white, pure, innocent, soft, smooth, slippery and all. When I was attempting to transfer the fried calamari rings, Nadz helped me from behind because I must have been really slow at it.

Minthu: Grilled cala, can go.
Minthu passes the medium pan of grill led calamari to Ashaari.
Minthu: Table **.
Jean: Wait! Mm, A, what, that, uh? *panics*
Ashaari enters kitchen.
Ashaari: Eh, this one customer complain uh.

Yet another prank!

Those chips that dropped.
The prawn trellis that dropped into the water.
Those hairy Fish & Chips.
These are just some blunders to speak of.

May every tomorrow be a better day.
Cheers.
